Democratic Governance

UNDP’s work in Democratic Governance is focused on developing institutions and processes that respond to the needs of Iraqi citizens, including the poor, and that promote development. Through our programmes we aim to promote participation, accountability and effectiveness at all levels, and build effective and capable Iraqi institutions that are accountable, transparent, inclusive and responsive.

Our work includes strengthening Iraq’s electoral and legislation systems, promoting human rights and the rule of law, improving access to justice and public administration and developing a greater capacity to provide quality basic services to all Iraqis, and particularly those who are most in need.
