    For 25 year-old Ayad, the café he owns in the city of Tikrit, in Salah al-Din Governorate in Iraq, with his three brothers is the realization of a life-long dream and a valuable source of income and stability for his family.

  • Berevan and Sabiha rebuild their lives after suffering violence and displacement

    Baghdad- Women and girls in Iraq have become more vulnerable as a result of the ongoing conflict and instability, as well as the increasing numbers of refugees and internally displaced people. In response, UNDP has been working with the Government and civil society to raise awareness, address violations, and build preventive mechanisms, specifically related to sexual and gender based violence (SGBV).

  • Easy and Affordable Counsel

    Many Iraqis confronting the judicial system do not have either the legal knowledge on how to defend or enforce their rights nor have the financial means to afford counsel. Eliza, a 14 year old Iraqi Kurdish girl fell in love with the neighbours’ son and became pregnant.
