UNDP in Partnership with UNHABITAT, UNOPS, UNFPA, and UNWOMEN is answering to this emergency call by:
A) Implementing a “Sustainable Shelters for IDPs” programme that will provide sustainable housing and early recovery services for approximately 1,000 IDP families in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Each family will be housed in a prefabricated housing unit or in a composite unit within a collective shelter as appropriate, and will have access to electricity, water, and sanitation services.
B) Implementing a “Protection” programme to prevent and to respond to SGBV, trafficking and human rights violation among the IDPs with a special focus on women, girls, boys and disabled people. Such programme would include rights-awareness training among the IDPs and decision- makers in the relevant communities and camps, as well as various responses needed to help victims and providing access to counseling support.
